World Cultural Heritage

Horyuji (pron.:hoh-ryuh-jee) temple is well known as the world's oldest surviving wooden structures and it was registered as part of World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in December 1993.
In the long history of the temple, some structures and religious arts were burnt down, but there are many surviving structures and religious arts, including over 2,300 articles of national treasures and important cultural assets.
