A relief map and video introduce the six hiking courses in Ikaruga district. The Horyuji i Center is the starting point for the six courses.

1.Three Ancient Pagodas Course

Through touring Horyuji Temple, Horinji Temple, Hokiji Temple, Chuguji Temple and Yumedono, one is introduced to the lives of Prince Shotoku and his family and appreciate the deep historical significance of that age.

2.Prince Shotoku Course

On the Taima Course, a path of faith, one can see some ancient guideposts and stone Buddhist statues in the south of Ikaruga town. One is also introduced to the countryside modeled on the old "Jori" land system.

3.Taima Peaceful Course

Walking around traditional shrines and temples amongst the rural landscape.

This course is steeped in tradition, and one may enjoy the rich greenery and wildflowers along the way. Each season articulates the poetic sentiment of ancient times.

4.Flowers and Shallows Course

Walking around seasonable landscapes, rich in poetic sentiment.

This course begins at Fujinoki Tumulus, influenced by Chinese culture. It ends at the place famous for the legend of Narihira's love. This course enables us to feel as if we were returning to ancient times.

Going back to the past along this path of love.

You can escape into the mountains from Ikaraga-no-sato (Ikaruga district) and overlook the area from their heights. Relaxing in the pure air of the forests, one may perceive the changing of the four seasons. This route introduces us to views of the mountains and the Yamato plains.

6.Nature-Watching Course

Walking among mountains and fields, immersed in the abundance of nature.
